I doubt that Premier House is in a worse state of repair than the average Wellington rental accommodation.

The taboo around the use of the word 'Austerity' by the Right is because, as a term with specific meaning in political economy, if you search it, you will very soon come across academic papers, books by academics aimed at a general readership, Youtube presentations etc. that demonstrate that Austerity is a mechanism for reinforcing 'traditional capitalist class relations' (i.e. worker subservience) despite that it damages the economy in the process (a 'price worth paying').

Worth a search:

One can imagine that this subject is of specific interest to academics of Italian ancestry, since Italy is where this program was bought to refinement in the 1920's/30's

Govt have no intention of listening to the people. They are purely a puppet govt that have no control of NZs future, and it’s not against their own will. This has been a long planned campaign that they won’t stop until forced to.

The accommodation allowance is an entitlement to all politicians, all civil servants, and most business people who travel for their businesses. For clarity, and for fairness, journalists should identify all politicians who receive this entitlement. There is a bit of hypocrisy evident here.

Not at all surprised that someone who owns 7 houses, including his mortgage-free Wellington apartment, would have a sense of entitlement! He doesn't have to contend with ANY of the financial challenges "ordinary folks" have, especially those on benefits and/or low incomes. The former PM brought up a new-born baby in the house the entitled Mr Luxon thinks is good enough to have a family Christmas bash in, but not to live in himself. As an aside, presumably there is security involved with the official residence, even if no-one is living there? Plus whatever for his private apartment?
