Alex Casey’s tale of her wedding was the story I didn’t know I needed today. So many happy tears & some laughter too - a beautiful way to start the morning.
In a world that has seen murder carried out daily in Gaza and the Lebanon, a labour Prime Minister introducing sweeping changes affecting some of the most vulnerable citizens, a convicted felon elected to the Presidency of the USA who is to say that Seymours dreadfully racist attempt to rewrite Te Tiriti o Waitangi won't become law. Truth, honesty, empathy and the adherence to the rule of law seem to be commodities that no longer are the bedrock of a cuvilised modern society (that's if they ever were in the furst place). I am appalled by the callous nature our western democratic governments operate.
So ...... Could you please explain EXACTLY "which and why" part of below is so wrong since you have obviously thought hard and long about it and have managed to create a corelation link to Gaza and Trump in your thought process
Principles
The principles of the Treaty of Waitangi are as follows:
Principle 1
The Executive Government of New Zealand has full power to govern, and the Parliament of New Zealand has full power to make laws,—
(a) in the best interests of everyone; and
(b) in accordance with the rule of law and the maintenance of a free and democratic society.
Principle 2
(1) The Crown recognises, and will respect and protect, the rights that hapū and iwi Māori had under the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi at the time they signed it.
(2) However, if those rights differ from the rights of everyone, subclause (1) applies only if those rights are agreed in the settlement of a historical treaty claim under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.
Principle 3
(1) Everyone is equal before the law.
(2) Everyone is entitled, without discrimination, to—
(a) the equal protection and equal benefit of the law; and
(b) the equal enjoyment of the same fundamental human rights.
David Seymour ‘s Bill provides for equal rights for all so perhaps his electorate can equally share in the appalling statistics on Maori health, the number of Maori subject to the Justice system and the poor educational standards of Maori children. They too can have the equal rights to suffer.
I don't understand what David Seymour's problem is. Accepting that the treaty might not be well written and with conflict between the English and Maori versions .. does he wish to relitigate history?
This is what the treaty settlement are all about and it has created a Maori economy of $70 billion and growing fast because most of it is tied up in tax free charitable trusts. The treaty principle bill will not change this but some day ALL the claims will be settled.

I think he wishes to remove roadblocks from a corporate takeover of our country.
A contract was signed, then land was stolen, honour the contract Seymour. So simple.

My crystal ball says the Treaty Principles vote will become a conscience vote, thereby removing any connection to National.
