We don't get SkySports, so I was hoping for clips on the free-to-air channels, or YouTube. No such luck. I'm sure plenty of our tax goes to support the Olympics and given that it is supposed to be inclusive, etc. etc. it's disappointing that we couldn't even see highlight reels AFTER the events.
It’s a bit late for you now, but Sky Open is free to air and that was the free Olympic channel. On top of that, Sky offered a 16-day “Olympic pass” for non-subscribers. It was well worth the $40 for (I think) 12 channels, over the internet. We don’t have pay tv either but no regrets for signing up to this one.
Gutted that I didn't come across a thread like this before. This is one of the problems of fragmented media. Not only do we get our own narrow takes on the news, we also miss out on public information we could use. I miss the days where we all picked up newspapers/watched the same TV, and got fed this info through the ads we couldn't skip.
Ellesse Andrews absolutely dominating the sprint semi and final was such a great way to finish. She was amazing. The games were the best ever in my opinion. So many highlights, beyond the obvious of 10 golds.
I have to wonder if Lisa Carrington being involved in so many events is kinda like the ultimate in preparation! She has to train to the utmost with each team to give them the best chance, plus what she does for solo events - massive 👏🏾 Talk about stamina
Also, I don't follow golf, apart from being happy if a Kiwi does well, and the sport doesn't appeal to me as something I would want to do. So it was gobsmacking to hear the commentators reel off the actual achievement in her 27yrs of life on earth, topped off with this Olympic Gold - apparently she will be inducted into some high falutin' golf hall of fame AT 27 YEARS OLD! Whenever I HAVE taken notice of golf, it is usually some fairly substantial male, but she is TINY by comparison 😮
It was inspiring to start off with the Women's Rugby 7's GOLD, and each performance after that, no matter the placing, made me proud to be a Kiwi. (I resonated with the commentators watching Hamish Kerr .... "Hamish, Hamish, Hamish - why do you DO this to yourself? (and to us commentators!)" as he came back from the brink of being eliminated multiple times 😁
Lots to say about our disappointing politicians, but sometimes it's good to just talk about the upside of the news eh?

Thanks, Grant. I'll have to see if we can get that on our 'ancient' 2017 smartTV come the winter olympics.
We watched via the iPad plugged into the tv, viewing through the skysportnow app. Inelegant but functional. Good luck
I relied fully on free to air Sky Open and it wasn't *too* bad at showing me what I wanted to see :) – SSL

Thanks again!
